If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try making Punjabi samosas at home. Here’s a simple recipe to get you started:
Samosa Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon carom seeds
- Salt to taste
- 3 large potatoes (boiled and mashed)
- 1 cup peas (boiled)
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon amchur (dried mango powder)
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix the flour, carom seeds, and salt. Add oil and mix until the flour resembles breadcrumbs. Gradually add water and knead to form a firm dough. Cover and set aside.
- Make the Filling: Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add the mashed potatoes, peas, coriander powder, garam masala, amchur, and salt. Cook for a few minutes, then let it cool.
- Assemble the Samosas: Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a thin oval shape. Cut it in half to form two semi-circles. Fold each semi-circle into a cone and fill it with the potato mixture. Seal the edges with water.
- Fry the Samosas: Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry the samosas on medium heat until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
